Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are probably the skincare product that I’ve been using the longest. I started using them in university 15 years ago. That makes me feel old now that I’m typing it out! Needless to say, I must love it if I’ve been using it that long. I tend to think of teenaged breakouts and acne when I think of Clean and Clear, but these are one of their products that have a more grown up use.

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets exactly what they sound like – oil absorbing sheets that help to get rid of oil on your face. They’re blue and turn transparent when they pick up oil – without leaving any blue residue behind. To avoid moving around any makeup that I have on (or taking it off), I dab instead of rub it on my skin. They’re the perfect size for your face – big enough that I have enough room to get all areas of my face without being too big that I feel like I’m wasting it.

These are perfect for keeping in your bag because the packaging is so small and compact. Because they’re so easy to keep around, they’re perfect for touching up throughout the day. They’re especially great during the summer when I’m usually a bit more shiny. Speaking of packaging, it’s really easy to get just one sheet out instead of a bunch. There’s adhesive on the inside of the cover, so when you open it, one and only one sheet automatically gets pulled out. Such a little thing that makes getting them out so much easier.

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are available at your local drugstore for $6 or online here (affiliate link). I love that these are at such an affordable price point and they work so well.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

I first tried this cleanser because I was having a skin reaction to something that I was using. As a result I tried switching out all the products I was using at the time to try to figure out what it was that was causing the trouble. In the end I never did figure out the culprit.

CeraVe was a brand that was recommended to me by multiple people for being gentle on skin and good for sensitive skin. I read reviews online that also said the same – that it was one of the few things that worked for people with sensitive skin. I found that those recommendations were right on.

Less than one pump of CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser was enough to wash my face. I apply it to my wet face, and it lathers up quite nicely. It washes off without leaving anything – it feels like all the dirt, oil, and makeup comes off. I didn’t have to scrub either to feel like my face was clean either. It also didn’t leave my skin feeling tight like some cleansers have in the past.

I was very happy that I didn’t have any reactions to it despite my sensitive skin. If you also struggle with sensitive skin I would suggest giving CeraVe products a try. I’ve also used other products from this line and I’ve really liked all of them so far.

Needless to say, this is definitely a cleanser that I’ll be buying again. It’s gentle on my sensitive skin but also gets my face clean from oil and makeup.

Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep

Today I’m sharing the products in the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box.

Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep Box

Last weekend I ended up buying a few things from Sephora, so I thought I’d share one of them with you today. I’m currently all about the skincare (my focus recently is to make my skin as healthy as I can), so I decided to buy the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box. It comes with 7 mini sized skincare products that you use at night (though a few say on their labels that they can also be used in the morning).

What does this box include?

 Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep

Although I have tried a few of these brands in the past, all of these products are new to me. In that regard, this was the perfect box for me to try. Getting to try mini sizes of these products allows me to pick my favorites and then buy the full sized versions of them.

So far the only one that I’ve tried is the Kate Somerville Eye Cream. My first impressions are good and I’m really liking it. I’m super excited to try the Sunday Riley Night Oil and Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector. I’ll be sure to share the superstars of this box once I have a chance to try them all out.

The snow has finally arrived here in Calgary (we actually got so much last week that the city was under a snowfall warning). If anyone has any suggestions on moisturizers or creams that help with dry skin during the cold winter I’d love some suggestions. I have a couple spot on my face that are notoriously dry, and it’s already driving me crazy.

Have you tried any of the products in the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box? Which is your favorite?

Eyes, Face, Makeup Remover, Skincare

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

I first bought Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover because I liked that it was an oil free formula. Since I first tried it several years ago, I seem to keep coming back to it. Really, who needs added oil on their face? Not me, especially since I’m prone to breakouts.

I know that I probably don’t need to say this, but it’s so important to take off your makeup before going to bed. I know it can be tempting to skip taking it off completely when you’re tired, but it’s hard on your skin. Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover makes it really easy to take off eye makeup, which is part of why I like it so much.

In terms of application, I first shake the bottle to that it gets bubbly. I then put some on a cotton pad. I out he cotton pad on my eyelid for a few seconds to let the makeup remover soak in before I start rubbing gently. Although I do need to rub to get all of the mascara and eye shadow off, it’s not a lot of rubbing. I don’t wear eyeliner, so I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness to getting it off. Since it leaves a bit of a residue after the makeup is gone, I rinse my eyelids with water. It comes off easily.

I really like that fact that this doesn’t feel greasy while it’s on my face. I’ve tried other eye makeup removers in the past that either haven’t been effective at taking off all of my eye makeup or leave behind a weird film that’s hard to get off. That’s definitely not the case with Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover.

It doesn’t take a lot of product to get off all of my eye makeup. I find that a bottle lasts me a few months.

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover is available at your local drugstore for $9 or online here (affiliate link).

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

Today I’m reviewing the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

Before I get into this review I thought I’d give you a bit of an idea about my skin. I have sensitive combination skin. I sometimes have reactions to skincare and makeup causing redness. I tend to be oily through my nose and forehead and dry on my chin and cheeks. Yeah, I have really fun skin.

This has been my go to cleanser for years. I seem to have pretty good luck with Aveeno products not causing reactions with my sensitive skin, so I’ve used them quite a bit over the last few years. While I definitely have used other cleansers as well, I always seem to come back to this one.

I typically only wash my face once per day at night before going to bed. If I wash it more than that the dryness on my chin and cheeks gets dramatically worse. I don’t have any problems with the oil getting out of control with just the one wash per day, which I’m grateful for. As a result of using the cleanser just once every day, I’ve found that this bottle will last me a few months.

Just 1 pump is enough product to wash my face. I find that this cleanser lathers up nicely. It also doesn’t have an overpowering scent, which is nice because I find scents can cause my skin to react. It cleans my face without making it feel dry. In fact, my skin feels pretty soft after I’m done. I feel like I’ve gotten all of my makeup off as well as any dirt and oil from the day.

Per their website, the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser contains Active Naturals Total Soy Complex, which improves tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness, and brown spots. While I don’t have problems with brown spots (yet), I do have some blotchiness that it hasn’t dealt with, not that I was really expecting it to though.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser is available at your local drugstore for $9 or online here (affiliate link).

Face, Skincare, Towelettes

Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract

Today I’m reviewing Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract. They’re perfect for nights when you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to wash your face with cleanser and water as well as for travelling.

Burt's Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract

I picked Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract up on a whim a few months ago while I was browsing at my local drug store. I’m so glad I did though because it turns out that I really like them.

Not only does the formula of these towelettes smell good, but it’s effective at getting off oil, dirt, and even makeup. The oil and dirt comes off easily, while taking off mascara took a bit more work, but didn’t require any harsh scrubbing. I have sensitive skin, but I didn’t have any reactions using these towelettes.

The wipes are a good size and I’ve always had enough space to be able to clean my face. The cloths are also nice and soft so it feels good against my skin.

I’ve had problems with packaging letting towelettes dry out before, but that hasn’t happened with these ones. Under the plastic lip is a sticker that covered the wipes. This two layered opening has kept my wipes just as moist as the first time I opened them. In addition, the wipes are also easy to pull out.

I keep these towelettes in my gym bag. After workouts when I’m in the locker room I use them to clean my face. I’ve also taken them with me travelling. They’re so much easier to pack than a bottle of cleanser and I feel like they worked just as good for the time that I was away.

I have no complaints about these towelettes. I’ll be buying them again.

Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract are available in drugstores for about $10 or online here (affiliate link).

Have you tried these before? What are your favorite facial towelettes?

Moisturizer, Skincare

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30

Today I’m reviewing the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 – specifically the normal to oily skin version.

eraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30

I have sensitive skin, so this brand was recommended to me as something to try that would be gentle on my skin. I was having problems with my skin reacting to another brand of moisturizer, so I was in the market for a new kind. Trying a new skincare brand is something that makes me nervous because I never know how my skin will react to it.  So far though I’m really liking it and I’ve had zero reactions to it, which was a big relief.

First off, I like that it’s in a pump bottle. It makes it easier to get the exact amount out that I want. In addition I feel like it’s cleaner than a pot of moisturizer that I’d have to use my fingers to get it out. I also like that the bottle takes up little room on my bathroom counter. I think everyone is looking for more room in there.

I typically put it on after using cleanser as well as any time throughout the day that my face feels dry. My chin tends to get dry, so I frequently put it there and I feel like it really does help. I also like that it has broad spectrum SPF protection built into it. If I know I’m going to be spending the day in the sun I’ll put a stronger SPF sunscreen on top, but otherwise I like that moisturizer and sunscreen is in one step.

The CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 is only available in a 89 mL pump bottle. Mine has lasted me more than six months though, so I think it’s a great size. you also don’t need to use a lot – a little does a long way. It doesn’t take long to absorb into my skin, so it’s nice that this skincare step doesn’t take a lot of time.

It can be found at drugstores for around $20 or online here (affiliate link).
