Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are probably the skincare product that I’ve been using the longest. I started using them in university 15 years ago. That makes me feel old now that I’m typing it out! Needless to say, I must love it if I’ve been using it that long. I tend to think of teenaged breakouts and acne when I think of Clean and Clear, but these are one of their products that have a more grown up use.

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets exactly what they sound like – oil absorbing sheets that help to get rid of oil on your face. They’re blue and turn transparent when they pick up oil – without leaving any blue residue behind. To avoid moving around any makeup that I have on (or taking it off), I dab instead of rub it on my skin. They’re the perfect size for your face – big enough that I have enough room to get all areas of my face without being too big that I feel like I’m wasting it.

These are perfect for keeping in your bag because the packaging is so small and compact. Because they’re so easy to keep around, they’re perfect for touching up throughout the day. They’re especially great during the summer when I’m usually a bit more shiny. Speaking of packaging, it’s really easy to get just one sheet out instead of a bunch. There’s adhesive on the inside of the cover, so when you open it, one and only one sheet automatically gets pulled out. Such a little thing that makes getting them out so much easier.

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are available at your local drugstore for $6 or online here (affiliate link). I love that these are at such an affordable price point and they work so well.

Fragrance

Flora By Gucci

Flora by Gucci

Back in 2006 I went on a trip to Europe. In France I found an amazing perfume and wore it for years until I finished it. I then went on a search for a new signature scent. It may have taken awhile, but I found one after a few years.

My brother had given me a gift card for Sephora for my birthday a few birthdays ago, so I went into the store hoping to find something that smelled great and appealed to me. When I came across Flora by Gucci, I know it was the one. It’s been my go to fragrance ever since.

Flora has both floral and citrus notes and is a strong fragrance that lasts all day. Despite the strong scent I don’t think that it’s overwhelming. I also find that it’s sweet and feminine. It gives me a confidence boost when I’m wearing it.

I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it over the years, as well as questions about what it is that I’m wearing. I think it works great in both the winter and summer months so I’m able to wear it year round.

In terms of packaging, I absolutely love the bottle that it comes in. It’s pretty and classic looking to me. It’s one of those bottles that you like to have out to see.

While it’s definitely not a cheap price, I think it’s worth it for a perfume that makes me feel great when I’m wearing it. Needless to say, Flora by Gucci will be a fragrance that I will be buying again.

Flora by Gucci is available at Sephora for $95 or online here (affiliate link).

Body, Shave Gel

Skintimate Signature Scents Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine Twist

Today I’m reviewing the Skintimate Signature Scents Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine Twist.

Skintimate Signature Scents Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine Twist

I have a love/hate relationship with shave gels. Some are great and allow me to get a close shave, while others just cause irritation and my skin feels terrible for hours after I’ve used it. Having sensitive skin is a pain – literally. I’ve come to realize that I have to be picky about the shave gels that I try.

Thankfully, this one the Skintimate Signature Scents Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine Twist is a favorite for me. It lathers up really well, lubricates my skin so that I don’t get nicks, leaves my skin feeling hydrated, and smells really good to boot. I have to be careful with products that have scents sometimes, but I didn’t have any reactions with this shave gel.

According to the Skintimate website, it contains vitamin E and olive butter. I’m all about getting as much moisture as possible into the skin on my legs because they’re always dry, and they’re typically even worse during the winter months. With all the dry air here, that’s not surprising. I find that if I’m using the right shave gel, moisturizer will absorb into my skin easier. That was the case with this shave gel.

One tip for those of you who also have sensitive skin: make sure you switch out your razor on a regular basis. While you might think that it’s your shave gel causing problems with your skin, it could actually be a dull razor.

Skintimate Signature Scents Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine Twist is available at your local drugstore for about $4 or online here (affiliate link).

Cleanser, Face, Skincare

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

I first tried this cleanser because I was having a skin reaction to something that I was using. As a result I tried switching out all the products I was using at the time to try to figure out what it was that was causing the trouble. In the end I never did figure out the culprit.

CeraVe was a brand that was recommended to me by multiple people for being gentle on skin and good for sensitive skin. I read reviews online that also said the same – that it was one of the few things that worked for people with sensitive skin. I found that those recommendations were right on.

Less than one pump of CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser was enough to wash my face. I apply it to my wet face, and it lathers up quite nicely. It washes off without leaving anything – it feels like all the dirt, oil, and makeup comes off. I didn’t have to scrub either to feel like my face was clean either. It also didn’t leave my skin feeling tight like some cleansers have in the past.

I was very happy that I didn’t have any reactions to it despite my sensitive skin. If you also struggle with sensitive skin I would suggest giving CeraVe products a try. I’ve also used other products from this line and I’ve really liked all of them so far.

Needless to say, this is definitely a cleanser that I’ll be buying again. It’s gentle on my sensitive skin but also gets my face clean from oil and makeup.

The CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser is available at your local drugstore for $20 or online here (affiliate link).

Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep

Today I’m sharing the products in the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box.

Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep Box

Last weekend I ended up buying a few things from Sephora, so I thought I’d share one of them with you today. I’m currently all about the skincare (my focus recently is to make my skin as healthy as I can), so I decided to buy the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box. It comes with 7 mini sized skincare products that you use at night (though a few say on their labels that they can also be used in the morning).

What does this box include?

 Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep

Although I have tried a few of these brands in the past, all of these products are new to me. In that regard, this was the perfect box for me to try. Getting to try mini sizes of these products allows me to pick my favorites and then buy the full sized versions of them.

So far the only one that I’ve tried is the Kate Somerville Eye Cream. My first impressions are good and I’m really liking it. I’m super excited to try the Sunday Riley Night Oil and Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector. I’ll be sure to share the superstars of this box once I have a chance to try them all out.

The snow has finally arrived here in Calgary (we actually got so much last week that the city was under a snowfall warning). If anyone has any suggestions on moisturizers or creams that help with dry skin during the cold winter I’d love some suggestions. I have a couple spot on my face that are notoriously dry, and it’s already driving me crazy.

Have you tried any of the products in the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep box? Which is your favorite?

Eyes, Face, Makeup Remover, Skincare

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

I first bought Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover because I liked that it was an oil free formula. Since I first tried it several years ago, I seem to keep coming back to it. Really, who needs added oil on their face? Not me, especially since I’m prone to breakouts.

I know that I probably don’t need to say this, but it’s so important to take off your makeup before going to bed. I know it can be tempting to skip taking it off completely when you’re tired, but it’s hard on your skin. Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover makes it really easy to take off eye makeup, which is part of why I like it so much.

In terms of application, I first shake the bottle to that it gets bubbly. I then put some on a cotton pad. I out he cotton pad on my eyelid for a few seconds to let the makeup remover soak in before I start rubbing gently. Although I do need to rub to get all of the mascara and eye shadow off, it’s not a lot of rubbing. I don’t wear eyeliner, so I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness to getting it off. Since it leaves a bit of a residue after the makeup is gone, I rinse my eyelids with water. It comes off easily.

I really like that fact that this doesn’t feel greasy while it’s on my face. I’ve tried other eye makeup removers in the past that either haven’t been effective at taking off all of my eye makeup or leave behind a weird film that’s hard to get off. That’s definitely not the case with Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover.

It doesn’t take a lot of product to get off all of my eye makeup. I find that a bottle lasts me a few months.

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover is available at your local drugstore for $9 or online here (affiliate link).

Body, Moisturizer

Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Body Lotion

I’m a huge fan of Nivea products, so I was looking forward to trying this out. As a result, my expectations were high.

Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Body Lotion

Nivea Firming Body Lotion contains Q10, Creatine, and L-Carnitine. The label claims that with continued use over two weeks it “improves the feeling of skin firmness”.

I found the Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Body Lotion for normal skin to absorb quickly. It wasn’t greasy at all. I found myself wishing that the formula was a bit thicker than it was. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the consistency, I did like the scent.

As for the packaging, I really liked the pump bottle that it came in. Like most people, I prefer pumps over tubs that require using my fingers instead.

In terms of the firming claims, I didn’t see a difference. I’m not surprised, as I wasn’t expecting a visible difference. However, when it comes to moisturizing, I found that it did a great job.

I tend to have dry hands, elbows, and heels, so I’m always looking for something to work on those trouble spots. My skin felt hydrated and moisturized for hours at a time. I found that I got the best effect applying it right after getting out of the shower in the morning.

Although I didn’t notice a difference in firming, I would still buy this body lotion for it’s moisturizing properites. I also think that it’s a great price for the amount of product you get, so it’s a great value.

Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Body Lotion is available at your local drugstore for $11 or online here (affiliate link).

Cleanser, Face, Skincare

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

Today I’m reviewing the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

Before I get into this review I thought I’d give you a bit of an idea about my skin. I have sensitive combination skin. I sometimes have reactions to skincare and makeup causing redness. I tend to be oily through my nose and forehead and dry on my chin and cheeks. Yeah, I have really fun skin.

This has been my go to cleanser for years. I seem to have pretty good luck with Aveeno products not causing reactions with my sensitive skin, so I’ve used them quite a bit over the last few years. While I definitely have used other cleansers as well, I always seem to come back to this one.

I typically only wash my face once per day at night before going to bed. If I wash it more than that the dryness on my chin and cheeks gets dramatically worse. I don’t have any problems with the oil getting out of control with just the one wash per day, which I’m grateful for. As a result of using the cleanser just once every day, I’ve found that this bottle will last me a few months.

Just 1 pump is enough product to wash my face. I find that this cleanser lathers up nicely. It also doesn’t have an overpowering scent, which is nice because I find scents can cause my skin to react. It cleans my face without making it feel dry. In fact, my skin feels pretty soft after I’m done. I feel like I’ve gotten all of my makeup off as well as any dirt and oil from the day.

Per their website, the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser contains Active Naturals Total Soy Complex, which improves tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness, and brown spots. While I don’t have problems with brown spots (yet), I do have some blotchiness that it hasn’t dealt with, not that I was really expecting it to though.

Conditioner, Hair, Shampoo

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner

Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner

I’m going to start off this review by sharing what my typical hair routine is looks like.

I wash my hair daily. Between workouts and having naturally greasy roots, it’s just something that I need to every day. In addition to washing it, I also blow dry my hair daily – which I know isn’t ideal, but it just has to happen. I don’t use any other hot styling tools like curling irons or straighteners. I also currently don’t color my hair. It’s probably been 10 years since the last time I did.

Now that you have a good idea of the state of my hair, I think it’ll be easier to share my thoughts on how the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner affected my hair.

First and foremost, this shampoo and conditioner duo smell fantastic. I’m much more likely to use a product consistently (and even want to use it) if it smells good, so that’s always a good thing. The conditioner is thicker than the shampoo, which is usually the case.

The L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner both contain Pro-Keratin and Cicamide. They help to enhance the strength, density, vitality, shine, and silkiness of the hair. Unlike some shampoos and conditioners that can weight hair down, I didn’t find that with this one. In fact, I found that it actually added some volume, which is a good thing since I tend to have limp hair. My hair also feels healthier – softer and more shinier – than before I started using it.

I’m interested in trying out the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Replenishing Mask, which goes along with the shampoo and conditioner. The next time I see it at the drug store I’m going to buy it. It has good reviews online.

The bottom line is that I’m happy with how this shampoo and conditioner duo worked for me hair. It gave my hair some extra volume while also making it softer and shinier. These are definitely something that I would buy again.

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner is available at your local drugstore for $4 each.

Lip Balm, Lips

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm

Today I’m reviewing the Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm.

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm

This is my second or third tube of this lip balm. I’m usually using several lip balms at the same time – I then them stashed at my desk, in my bag, and by my bed. I clearly hate to have dry lips. Just like other Nivea products that I’ve tried, it does it’s job for an affordable price.

In terms of application, it goes on smooth and doesn’t get clumpy like some lip balms can get. I’ve tried lip balms like that in the past, and no matter how hard I try, there were always clumps. This Nivea lip balm definitely doesn’t have that problem.

This formula includes aloe, so it’s sure to leave your lips feeling moisturized. I found that it absorbed easily into my lips without leaving them feeling greasy. It adds no color to my lips, which I like. It also doesn’t have a scent either.

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm is available at your local drugstore for $3 for a package of two. Considering how affordable it is and how well it works, I think it’s a steal.

What’s your favorite lip balm? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
